How to Use Google Adwords Keyword Tool To Increase Your Article Earnings

If you're a content writer chances are your articles are earning income from ads. Those ads are determined by the keywords you use and not all keywords are equal.

Here is how you can harness the power of informed keyword selection, by using Google Adwords, and increase the earnings of any article, new or old.

  1. Step 1

    *CHOOSE A METHOD FOR GENERATING KEYWORD IDEAS*

    The Keyword Tool that Google provides through Adwords is your best friend when it comes to making informed keyword choices. You can directly affect your article earnings by researching your keywords ... whether it's before you write an article or after your article is written.

    On the Keyword Tool page choose how you would like to generate keyword ideas:

    If you are researching keyword ideas for an article you have not yet written, choose to generate your keyword ideas by descriptive words or phrases.

    If you are researching keyword ideas to make changes to an article that has already been written, choose to generate your keyword ideas by website content.

  2. Step 2

    *PROVIDE TOPIC RELATED WORD, PHRASE or URL*

    When generating keyword ideas by keyword or phrase, provide a word or phrase that describes or is the theme of the article you plan to write. Click get keyword ideas.

    When generating keyword ideas by website content, cut & pate the URL or web address of the article you are researching keywords for, into the appropriate box. Click get keyword ideas. It may take a minute for your content to be scanned, but hang in there your keyword results are coming.

  3. Step 3

    *DISPLAY ESTIMATED KEYWORD AD COST*

    Once the results page is up it is very important to display your keyword results by the Estimated Avg. CPC. The estimated average CPC is the cost of the keyword ads associated with a particular keyword. The higher the cost of the keyword ad the more you will earn for using the keyword.

  4. Step 4

    *ORDER RESULTS FROM HIGH TO LOW*

    Now that you can see the estimated costs on your list of keyword results, don't just scroll through them looking for the highest paying. Save yourself sometime and organize them from high to low. Do this by double clicking on "Estimated Average CPC" until the black arrow is pointing down.

  5. Step 5

    *MAKE INFORMED KEYWORD CHOICES*

    Now that you have your keyword suggestions organized you'll be able to scroll down and choose the keywords & phrases that pay. The highest paying keyword or phrase should be at the top of your list while the lowest paying should be at the bottom.

    Creatively work the higher paying keywords into your article, but remember to use them wisely, sparingly and where they make sense; search engines are very well aware of keyword stuffing and will often blacklist an article for it.

    Make sure the topic you're writing about is in demand because if no one reads it, it won't matter how well your keywords pay.
