Many people are using twitter for various reasons these days. You can use Twitter to find special deals, bargains, coupon codes and save yourself some cash.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet Access
  • Twitter Account
  1. Step 1

    Assuming you have internet access, sign up for a twitter account (if you don't already have one) at www.twitter.com and set up your profile information and settings preferences.

  2. Step 2

    Once logged in, click on the 'find people' link in the upper right corner of your twitter home page. Then, type in each the suggested twitter users listed below.

  3. Step 3

    Once the results come back, click on the 'Follow' button to the right of the particular twitter user whose updates you wish to follow.

  4. Step 4

    For general great deals and bargains (books, personal care, houseware, electronics, etc.) follow these twitterers:

    fatwalletdeals (Fat Wallet Forums)
    amazondeals (Amazon.com Gold Box Deals)
    slickdeals (Slick Deals)
    flamingoworld (FlamingoWorld.com)
    Buy_com (Buy.com related deals)
    buycomdeals (Official Buy.com deals Twitter)

  5. Step 5

    For coupons and discount codes, follow these users:

    HotDealCoupons (Fatwallet.com)
    CouponTweet
    couponlanding
    coupqueen (Coupon Queen)
    AmazonCoupon

  6. Step 6

    For deals specifically on tech (PC's, netbooks, iPods, MP3 players, software, gadgets, etc.) follow these:

    DellOutlet (Dell Outlet specials)
    MyTechDeals
    besttechdeals

  7. Step 7

    For Travel Deals:

    getatraveldeal
    hotwire_deals

  8. Step 8

    Now 'follow' the incoming 'Tweets' to save money!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you begin to get overwhelmed by the different types of deals Twitterers you're following, try using an application like TweetDeck, which allows you to 'group' your follows into separate columns.

on 8/6/2009 It's really quite encouraging how many companies are embracing Twitter as a shop window for their products, and especially their deals. I'm working on a site (shameless plug: www.twavel.com) where we're trying to get the best travel deals on Twitter in the same place (getatraveldeal have had 47 listings so far...). What's really encouraging is the volume of companies doing Twitter-only deals.

Definitely a potent and growing marketplace.
