Taking a message can be very easy if you know what you are doing! When you don't know what you are doing it can be a nightmare for those who have to receive the message. Here are a few tips to help you take a good message!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • pen
  • paper
  • yourself
  1. Step 1

Have a pen and paper always handy! Post-it notes or the while you were away note packages work good too if you want the layout set up for you!

  2. Step 2

First ask for a name, this is really important! You don't want to give a message to your boss without a name, not a very personal callback.

  3. Step 3

Ask for the phone number that you could reach them at the best and when to call back. Some people stay up all night but some people would be in bed by 8pm. This is very important

  4. Step 4

Last but not least ask for the message they want to leave. When your done writing everything down make sure you repeat it to the caller so that you have the info correct! When the message ends write down what time they called and you are all set!

Tips & Warnings
  • Phone Number best reached at
  • Name
  • Best time to call
  • Time the call occurred or ended
  • The 4 above are very important, without one the rest could be potentially useless!
