How to do Free Background Search
How do you do a free background search on people? Is it actually POSSIBLE to do it?
The answer is: YES. Those "premium background check" sites actually get their data mostly from sites that are available for free for the general public. The problem is, however, about those "free sites." Their number is huge and they are spread all over the net so finding them all takes time.
So the premium background check services serve you more like TIME SAVERS than as offers of exclusive information.
So if you want to do a free background search then you definitely can do it. It will just take you more time.

Google is your best friend here. So go to Google.com. We'll use it to find those free background search sites that search through public records. Yes, I said public records because those premium services search through public records too...they have no "secret data" or something similar.

Let's say you want to find if a person living in Orlando has a criminal record. This is very important: Orlando is in Florida. So you must search BY STATE, not by the city, in this case Orlando.
What we do is write in Google: Florida Criminal Records. If you were looking for marriage records you would have written: Florida Marriage Records.
So the format is:
[name of the state] [type of records] records -

When you get the results look for websites that end with .US or .GOV. DO NOT LOOK FOR WEBSITES ENDING WITH .COM .NET or .ORG because they are usually commercial sites. In our Florida example, the site we need to visit is fdle.state.fl.us. There you'll find information on how to access records.

You noticed that even the public records are not free. The office in Florida requires you to pay $24 to do a criminal search on someone living there. The lesson? There is not 100% free background search (except if you have some friend in the government.)
Let's say that 70% of the records are free and 30% need to be paid for. Instead of going and paying to the state for access you can pay a reputable background check company to do it for you and it's often cheaper. One great service I recommend is US Search (the link to their website is below on this page under "Resources").
Good luck!
