Figure Out What Baby Furniture You Need

It's time to set up the baby's room. What do you really need and what do you have room for?

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a sense of style
  1. Step 1

Step one is to determine the size of your room. This is often overlooked but often becomes a major problem. You need to measure the square footage of your room. That's two sides of your room multiple by each other. For a baby, using 40% of your square footage will be okay but you need to allow for room for the baby to explore.

  2. Step 2

Second, you need to get your colors correct. having cherry mixed with oak just looks bad. So take stock of the furniture you might already have and go with that wood choice. Also, it's recommend that you paint and decorate the walls before getting the furniture so you can make the right color choices and style choices to blend with the room.

  3. Step 3

Lastly, make sure you get what you need but forgo what you won't. The essentials are a crib and a rocker. A baby changing table is also a recommended item to help change those diapers in the middle of the night. Overloading the room with end tables and other items only opens the room up for possible accidents with your toddler!

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep in mind your child's safety. Check labels for safety instructions and follow them. Tether those dressers to the wall. Make sure outlets are covered! These are all items that will make your child's room a safe one!
