    Medium Chicken Coop

Think about how many chickens you are wanting to house and consider what size you are going to need your chicken coop to be, afterall you do not want your chickens being all cooped up. The recommend amount of space needed per chicken is at least 4.5 square foot. So use this and figure out how big you need to build your chicken coop.

  2. Step 2

Plan ahead when it comes to what feeding system you are going to use once again you will need to look what feeding system is going to be ok for the amount of chickens you are going to keep. I do recommend that you feed your chickens a commerical feed that has been prepared, Some people make their own chicken feed which is fine but if you are not sure how to do this then you need to get a prepared chicken feed to ensure that your chickens diet is how it should be. Chickens do not normally over eat so do not be afaid that you may overfeed them.

  3. Step 3

If you live in hot areas or places then you need to think about stopping your chickens from getting too hot or over heating, If they do get too hot they may stop lying eggs. This is quite common in chickens and all you need to do to counter it is make sure you install some form of ventilation for your chickens. Installing or creating ventilation thoughout your entire chicken will also prevent it from smelling and will make your chickens a lot happier.

  4. Step 4

Also chicken coops located in areas that do not get much light will also affect your chickens, Getting a light source in your chicken coop with help counter this problem just make sure you place it correctly to make it feel like natural light to your chickens.
