How to Show Folder Information on a Mac

When you are navigating around the hard drive of your Mac computer using the Finder, the only thing that appears below the icons of your folders is each folder's name. You can choose to show folder information through the Finder options, however, which will make the Finder display the number of items inside of each folder as well as the folder name.

      Open a new Finder window by clicking on the Dock icon.

      Open the "View" menu at the top of the screen and select "Show View Options."

      Check the box next to "Show item info."

      Close the "View Options" window to save the settings. Now when you view folders in the Finder, the number of items they contain will appear underneath their icons.
