Burning a video file to DVD format can be a time-consuming process. You must first encode your video file into the proper format, arrange the files on a disc so that they can actually be understood by a DVD player, and finally burn the actual disc. Most programs do all these steps for you automatically, but it can be a one-time deal. If you need to burn the DVD again you have to repeat the process--that is, unless you save the file as an .ISO. An .ISO is a computer file containing the exact contents of a DVD. You can create a DVD in ISO format in Nero.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Nero. During installation, a shortcut icon was placed on your desktop, so all you have to do is double-click on it to bring up the program.

    • 2

Select "File" and "New." This will tell Nero that you want to begin the process of burning a disc. From the list of disc types that appear, select "DVD."

    • 3

Select "Add" from the "File menu. This will allow you to add whatever data or video files you want to burn to your DVD. If you are burning a video DVD, as opposed to a data DVD, Nero will automatically encode the files so that they can be understood by a standard DVD player.

    • 4

Select "Burn Image" under the "Recorder" pull-down menu at the top of the Nero window. This will burn the contents of your DVD to an .ISO file, which can then be burned however many times you'd like.
