If your ATV isn't moving as fast as you think it should, or you simply would like the breeze to blow through your hair a little harder, it doesn't have to cost you hundreds of dollars to make this happen. In fact. all it takes is changing one small part; a sprocket with two extra teeth to alter the final gear ratio. This will give you the extra speed your adrenaline requires.

How to make a 200cc ATV Go Faster

  1. Step 1

Loosen the chain. Use your small adjustable crescent wrench to turn the two chain tightener nuts counterclockwise until the chain is very loose. Grasp the chain with your hand and remove it from the rear sprocket, letting it hang.

  2. Step 2

Remove the chain guard. Use your Phillips head screwdriver to turn each bolt in the chain guard counterclockwise until they are out. Once all the screws are removed, grasp the chain guard and pull it from the motor; doing this will expose the front sprocket.

  3. Step 3

Remove the old front sprocket. Put the ATV in gear by pressing down on the gear shift lever one time; doing this will stop the sprocket from turning during removal. Use your large adjustable crescent wrench to turn the nut on the sprocket counterclockwise until it comes off. Now pull the old sprocket off.

  4. Step 4

Install the new front sprocket. Place the new front sprocket on the shaft and replace the nut by turning the nut clockwise with your fingers. Once the new front sprocket is in place, use your large adjustable crescent wrench to turn the nut clockwise until it is tight.

  5. Step 5

Replace and tighten the chain. Place the chain over the front and rear sprockets using your hand. Once the chain is in place, use your small adjustable crescent wrench to turn the two chain tightening bolts clockwise until the chain is tight.

  6. Step 6

Replace the chain guard. Place the chain guard back on the motor. Use your Phillips head screwdriver to replace all of the bolts, turning them clockwise until they are all tight.
