How to Draw a Circle in Corel Painter Essentials 3

Corel Painter Essentials 3 is part of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed family of Corel Painter software titles. Although it boasts a fraction of the functionality of the more robust Corel Painter IX, it is still packed with features that allow the creation of sophisticated, compelling designs. With so many tools, brushes and features, simple functions like drawing a circle may not be as intuitive as they are with other graphic design titles.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the application and select "New" from the "File" menu. If you wish to draw a circle on an existing Corel document, select "Open" and choose your desired file.

    • 2

Look at the floating toolbar in the top left corner and find the tool for drawing geometric shapes. The default icon for this tool is a square made of dotted lines, and the default position of the button is the second from the top and first on the left. Click this button.

    • 3

Look at the fixed toolbar in the top left corner and find the button with a circle made of dotted lines. Click this button.

    • 4

Select your brush type, which will determine the virtual instrument used to draw your circle. The brush selection button is the leftmost button on the right side of the fixed toolbar at the top of the page. Click it once to reveal a drop-down menu of all the brush styles and pick your desired brush.

    • 5

Select your line style, which will further customize the type of line in your circle. The line style button is just to the right of the brush type button. Click it once to open another drop-down menu and select your desired line style.

    • 6

Place the cursor within the open design window and click and hold the left mouse button. Drag the mouse in any direction, and you will see your circle expand. Continue holding the button until your circle is of the desired size, then release the mouse button.

    • 7

Move the circle, if desired, by using the hand tool. To do this, click the button on the floating toolbar with the hand-shaped icon, then position your cursor over the circle and click and hold the left mouse button. Move the mouse around to reposition your circle and release it when you're done.
