How to Make a Siphon Hose

A siphon hose provides an easy way to move liquids, such as water, from one place to another. Siphon hoses make it simple to add or remove water in a fish tank. It's also an easy way to remove gas from your car.

• Clear plastic hoseBucket

Instructions

1. Place one end of a clear plastic hose in the item you're draining and the other end in a bucket or sink. The sink or bucket must be lower than the item you're draining.

2. For a gas tank, suck on the end of the hose until the gas starts to come out. Use a clear plastic hose so you can see the gas and avoid getting it in your mouth.

3. Once water comes out the other side, or the gas reaches the end of the hose, quickly place the hose into the bucket or sink to drain. The liquid will continue to flow until the hose is no longer submerged in liquid.

4. To reverse the procedure, and fill a tank up, raise the bucket of liquid and repeat. The fish or gas tank will now act as the receiving end as the bucket or sink drains.
