Instructions

    • 1

Place a pot on the stove top, and turn the heat on low. Add the two cups of jojoba oil into the pot. Allow to heat up for about 5 minutes.

    • 2

Add the beeswax to the mixture in small chunks. Chunks can be cut using a knife or a spoon. Stir it into the oil until it is melted, and well-blended into the mixture.

    • 3

Add the powdered zinc oxide to the mixture. Stir it very slowly, being careful not to get any on the stove or the counter area.

    • 4

Pour the mixture into a glass container that has a lid. Mason jars or old glass jelly jars work well. Store the mixture in the refrigerator for one hour.

    • 5

Apply the natural sunscreen liberally to your body. Keep it away from the eyes or open cuts, scratches or sores. Reapply the sunscreen after swimming or every 2-3 hours.

Tips & Warnings

  • Place the sunscreen in the refrigerator after every use in order to maintain it's effectiveness. If the sunscreen appears see-through, stir it before applying in order to mix the ingredients again for proper sun protection. Sunscreen is not 100 percent protection from the sun's rays.

  • Wear a doctor's face mask and rubber gloves when dealing with zinc oxide as it should not be inhaled. Do not use the pan or spoon that was used with zinc oxide again for cooking, as it may still contain the chemicals, and contaminate food.
