Anyone can buy a card and envelope, but make your note even more special by delivering it in an envelope you folded yourself. Use a standard-size sheet of paper to create this easy envelope, and you don't even need scissors or glue.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8.5" x 11" piece of paper

How to Make Envelopes Without Glue

  1. Step 1

Fold corners A and D diagonally until the points are 5 1/2 inches from the short edge of the paper.

  2. Step 2

Fold corner C up 1 1/2 inches as pictured. Repeat with corner B.

  3. Step 3

Fold the right angle of corner C up to meet the opposite edge. Slip the corner under the fold created by corner B in step 2.

  4. Step 4

Place your note inside the envelope as shown.

  5. Step 5

Repeat step 3 with corner B, folding its right angle up to meet the opposite edge. Slide the corner under the flap created by corner C in step 2.

  6. Step 6

Flip the envelope over and address.

Tips & Warnings
  • Run your finger along each fold as you set the crease. Experiment with different types of paper to make this envelope without glue: use heavier paper to get a sturdier envelope or a page from a magazine to add some design.
  • While the resulting envelope fits within the sizes that are acceptable for mailing, the United States Postal Service may not accept an unsealed envelope. Use a little tape or a sticker to keep everything together before mailing. Check with your local post office if you have questions.
