Things You'll Need:
- Hand-pump water gun
- X-acto knife
- Small-diameter stiff plastic tubing
- Super glue
- Electrical tape
- Airsoft pellets
- Protective eye and facial gear
-
Step 1
Make sure that the hand-pump water gun is dry and in good condition, with no cracks or worn spots. Weaknesses in the plastic can be dangerous when the gun is used to shoot airsoft pellets because if the plastic breaks and the pellet shoots unexpectedly or in the wrong direction, it can cause injury.
-
Step 2
Use an X-acto knife to cut about an 8-inch length of stiff plastic tubing. The tubing should be narrow enough to slide into the opening at the tip of the gun, but wide enough to accommodate an airsoft pellet. It also needs to be stiff enough to hold a straight line when gripped at one end; the plastic tube that makes up the body of an inexpensive pen would work well, for example.
-
Step 3
Wrap one end of the tube with electrical tape until it is wide enough to fit snugly into the opening at the end of the water gun's barrel. Slide the taped end of the tube into the barrel and seal the barrel with super glue. Allow the glue to dry, then tug on the tube to make sure it's firmly inserted into the barrel and it's straight.
-
Step 4
Wrap the end of the gun barrel with electrical tape to create an airtight seal around the base of the tube. Load an airsoft pellet into the tube.
-
Step 5
Put on protective gear before testing the gun. Though the pellets are soft, they can cause substantial eye injuries. They can also break teeth and small, delicate facial bones. Goggles and a face mask are recommended.
-
Step 6
Pump up the gun, then aim it at the target and fire the pellet. If the pellet doesn't shoot straight, check the tube. Shortening the tube or using tape to anchor it more tightly in the barrel can repair any problems with the aim.
