Fold a Scarf Like a Bandanna

Few fashion accessories are as versatile as square scarves. They come in a variety of patterns and textures and are often quite inexpensive. Small and large scarves can be made into different types of bandanna wraps just by folding and tying them. A bandanna scarf can be worn over the shoulders, around the head or around the waist to finish off or dress up an outfit. Try these steps for tying a scarf into a bandanna and make your wardrobe shine.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small square scarf, at least 24 x 24 inches
  • Square scarf, at least 48 x 48 inches
  1. Step 1

Fold the scarves once diagonally into triangles.

  2. Step 2

Make a head wrap by putting the folded edge of the small scarf tightly on your forehead near the hairline and wrapping the ends around the back of your head, over the hanging end. Knot the ends. Tuck the hanging end into the knot or leave it out.

  3. Step 3

Try a different head wrap by placing the folded edge of the large scarf around your head with a little hair showing. Tuck the back end the scarf into your top or leave it hanging. Tie the front ends into a loose knot under your chin.

  4. Step 4

Make the large scarf into a shoulder wrap by folding the wide end of the triangle toward the narrow end. Make each fold about an inch wide, and keep folding until you reach the middle of the triangle. Wrap the scarf loosely around your shoulders and tie a loose knot in the front.

  5. Step 5

Dress up jeans by running the small scarf through two side belt loops and tying it into a loose knot.

  6. Step 6

Make a pretty belt by folding the large scarf as in Step 4, but continue folding to the bottom point of the triangle. Wrap the scarf around your waist at the top of your jeans and knot in front or at the side.
