Things You'll Need:
- Spray Foam Insulation
- Screwdriver
- Working Lamp or Circuit Tester
-
Step 1
Turn off the power at the circuit breaker box for the switches and receptacles you will be insulating to prevent any chance of electric shock. Unplug any appliances that are using these outlets and test with a circuit tester or a lamp to insure the circuit is off. If you are using a lamp, make sure that the bulb is good and the switch is in the on position.
-
Step 2
Spray FoamRemove the switch and receptacle cover plates with a screwdriver and spray the foam between the wall and the outside edge of the electrical box.
-
Step 3
Replace cover plateUsing a disposable cloth, wipe clean any overspray from the wall and outlets and replace the cover plates. Turn on the power at the panel, plug in the appliances and start enjoying the savings!
