Snipe Hunting Is A Blast, Invite Your Friends!

Snipe hunting has been a long tradition and practical joke. In this article you will learn how to become an expert snipe hunter and how to play a practical joke on others. It's fun, you'll have fun every time... I guarantee it! Remember that this has nothing to do with a really long-billed bird called a snipe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Friends
  • Bag or Burlap Sack
  • Flashlights (Optional)
  1. Step 1
    Gather Your Friends of Scouts

Gather A Group For A Snipe Hunt

Gather friends or scouts for a snipe hunt. Get them excited about catching snipe and explain that snipe are nocturnal and only come out of their nests at night. Once your group is gathered teach them a "snipe call" and take them out into the woods. Remember to make sure your friends have bags/burlap sacks and don't try to get them overly lost in the woods.

  2. Step 2
Develope some type of snipe call or whistle

Teach Your Friends A "Snipe Call"

Come up with some creative call that your friends can use to attract snipe. This can be as easy as having them whistle or shout something. Tell them that if they make the "Snipe Call" just right, snipe will run into their bag or burlap sack.

  3. Step 3
    Snipe Hunt is ON!

    The Hunt Is On!

Next explain to the group of friends that if they make a perfect "snipe call" the snipe will run right into their bag or burlap sack. Get involved in snipe hunting, acting like there are snipe coming at them and they are just missing. Really play it off acting like you can see the snipe the entire time. Once you got a big enough kick out of it, tell your friends to make "snipe calls" and you will try to drive the snipe their direction. At this point you are to leave them and see how long it takes them to realize that this was all a joke.

  4. Step 4
Make sure that you chuckle in side, but don't let them know it is a trick unless they find out themselves

    Get A Good Laugh

Remember that this is just a practical joke and make sure that your friends don't get lost in the woods. You can also do this with flashlights, just in case.

Tips & Warnings
  • Works well on younger children and/or boy scouts
  • If other members of the group know about the trick make sure they play along with you in order to successfully prank the others.
  • HAVE FUN!
  • Don't let them know it is a trick unless they figure it out on their own!
  • Make Sure That No One Gets Lost
  • Your friends might get mad at you whenever they find out that this is a practical joke and snipe don't exist.
