Capri sun purse with duct tape

This is a very modern and cute purse idea. You will need to use several Capri Sun juice drink packs to create this fun purse. Think of all the color combinations of the popular drink pouches! This is also a great way to teach your teens and tweens the value of recycling and that recycling does not have to be fun!

Things You'll Need:

5 Capri sun juice packets
exacto knife
boa
duct tape
hot glue gun

Step 1

To prepare the Capri Sun juice packs first you need to drink the juice! A great way to get kids away from pop and onto a healthier drink!

For my purse i am making a small handbag which will only be one Capri Sun drink pack tall so you will need 5 Capri Sun juice packets.
Step 2

Once the juice drinks are emptied you will need to use an exacto knife and cut the bottom of the pouches open.
Step 3

Now pull the pouches apart forming two separate pieces from the front and back of the packet.
Step 4

Now you will need to thoroughly clean each of your pouches with hot soapy water and dry.
Step 5

For this design you will need to lay three of your drink pouches side by side face down (make sure the tops are all facing the same direction).
Step 6

Now take duct tape and tape the seams of each of the pieces to form one strip of pouches. This is the front of your purse!
Step 7

Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the back of your purse.
Step 8

Now you will need to lay two of your drink pouches end to end face down. Again tape the seam with duct tape. This is the bottom of your purse!
Step 9

To form the sides of your purse you will need to take another pouch and slightly bend both of the corners forward about a quarter to an eighth of an inch from the edge of your pouch, this will give your purse more of a corner. Now duct tape this seam by holding this pouch against your front piece. Line up the edges of both of your pouches and tape with duct tape where the inside of the pouches meet.
Step 10

Repeat step 9 on all four of the corners to form the sides of the purse.
Step 11

Now repeat set 9 on the bottom, making sure to tape the seams real well to make the purse durable.
Step 12

To form the handle you will need to take a drink pouch and cut it in half length wise. Place the pouch face down on your work surface. Take a strip of duct tape that is the length of your desired finished handle plus the length of two of your drink packets and lay it on top of the drink pouch sticky side facing up. Now fold the drink pouch around the tape to completely cover the sticky side.
Step 13

Continue with step 12 until you have completely covered the duct tape.
Step 14

Attach the handle by duct taping it to the inside of your purse. Make sure you connect the handle to the full length of your purse to give it added strength.
Step 15

Decorate the top edge by hot gluing a boa to it to add a little flare and your done!
