How to Clean Visioneer Scanner Glass
Visioneer is a company that make scanners, including flatbed scanners which have the traditional lid that lifts up to reveal a glass surface. On the glass surface, a document is placed upside down so that the scanner can capture the image of the document. If the glass is not clean, the scanned image may become streaked or distorted. It is important to keep the glass of a Visioneer scanner cleaned on a regular basis so that streaking and distortion can be prevented.

1
Unplug and lift the lid of your Visioneer scanner and wipe the initial dust off with a lint free cloth or the cloth provided in the Visioneer maintenance kit.
-
2
Dampen your cloth with isopropyl alcohol or the de-ionizing cleansing solution that comes with the maintenance kit also. Do not spray or spill any solution directly onto the glass itself as that could damage other components of your Visioneer scanner. Proceed to the next step if you have a screen wipe with isopropyl alcohol, available where most office supplies are sold.

3
Wipe--in even back and forth strokes--the entire glass with the dampened cloth or a screen wipe. If there is hard residue--like white out often found on glass scanners--gently scrub with your cloth or wipe rather than using your finger nail, which might scratch the glass.

4
Clean the underside of the lid as well using the same process so it does not transfer dirt to the glass.
-
5
Wipe the Auto Document Feeder (ADF) strip of glass with the dampened cloth or wipe. It's located on one end of your scanner and has a white frame around it. This is essential since this is where the images are captured.
-
6
Let the glass dry before plugging it back in and using your Visioneer scanner again.
