How to Change the Finder Background Color on a Mac

By default, all Finder windows on a Mac computer have a white background. However, you can alter the settings and change the background color of Finder windows. Background color settings in the Finder are only saved for the window that is currently open, so you will need to adjust the setting for all windows for which you want to change the background color.

• Mac running OS X 10.5 or later

Instructions

1. Click on the Finder icon in the Dock to open a new Finder window.

2. Go to the "View" menu at the top of the screen and select "View Options."

3. Click on the "Color" radio button underneath the "Background" heading in the "Options" window.

4. Click on the color square in the options window and select a new background color from the color palette.

5. Close the "Options" window to save the background color settings.
