How to Convert DV to AVI
Many camcorders save video as a digital video (DV file). If you want to watch or manipulate the file on your PC in many cases you may have to convert it into another format. Converting your DV file into an AVI file is relatively easy to do and make your files easy to view and share with friends and family.

Upload the video file to your computer and import it into your favorite video editor. Most PC's should come with Windows Movie maker, and Mac's iMovie for free.

Choose File and then "Export" from the menu of the editing program once your file has been uploaded.

Select ".avi" as the file extension you would like to export the file as and press enter.

Use a free online file converter if you don't have a video editing program available. Such as Zamzar (www.zamzar.com).

Upload your .dv file to the file converter, select .avi as the file type you would like to recieve, and wait for Zamzar to email you and let you know your file conversion is complete.
