Download and install the video converter. Go to the CNET Download Center website (see Resources) and download and install the AVS Video Converter. It is a free download and you get a free trial of the software. If you decide you want to keep the software you will have to pay for the full version. 2009 full version cost: $39

Select your MP4 files. Launch AVS Video Converter, and click "Browse" by "Input Field Name" to select your MP4 files to convert. You can convert more than one file at a time.

Set your output type. Select MPEG video as your output file type by clicking on "To MPEG" on the toolbar and then "Edit Profile." Select MPEG from there. To change audio and video quality settings from the default of standard or good, click on the "Advanced" button.

Set your output location. Specify where the MPEG video files are to be saved on your computer by clicking "Browse" by "Output File Name."

Convert the files. Click on "Convert Now" to convert your MP4 files to MPEG video files. Click "OK" when you get the pop-up telling you that the conversion is complete.
