Instructions

    • 1

Fill your sink up with hot water. You need the water to be hot to kill off any germs that may be on the sweater. The heat won't damage your wool.

    • 2

Add a teaspoon of Dawn dish soap. Do not use laundry detergent, because it is too harsh for wool. The pH balance of the Dawn dish soap is perfect for cleaning wool.

    • 3

Set your wool sweater on top of the water and then gently press it down in to the water. Let it sit there for half an hour. Don't move or swish the wool sweater around, as this will damage it.

    • 4

Drain the water and fill the sink back up with hot water. Let the sweater sit for another 20 minutes and then drain again.

    • 5

Fill the sink up with hot water one last time. Add a 1/4 cup of vinegar and allow your sweater to sit in the water for 20 minutes.

    • 6

Place a dry towel under and over the wool sweater. Step on the sweater or apply pressure to it without rubbing it in any way. Then set your sweater out to dry naturally.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't have any dish soap, the next best thing to wash your sweater is shampoo.

  • Do not wring out your wool sweater. This will cause damage and the sweater will not last very long.
