Rub-on transfers are quickly becoming a popular alternative to stickers. Unlike stickers, transfers look as though they are painted on and do not lift from the pages. You can apply rub on transfers in scrapbooking to almost anything, including the pages or other embellishments you are adding to the pages. You can even apply them to the photographs. Most rub on transfers are transparent, further adding to the illusion they are painted on. They are easy to use and available at scrapbooking and craft stores.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut out the transfer you wish to use from the the rest of the sheet. Be careful not to cut into the neighboring transfers.

  2. Step 2

Peel the backing from the transfer. The backing is either clear plastic or paper. Place the transfer, sticky side down, on the paper where you want to apply it.

  3. Step 3

Rub the end of a craft stick or a special burnishing tool over the back of the transfer. Rub over the entire image on the transfer, using gentle pressure.

  4. Step 4

Peel up the transfer paper carefully. If the transfer is not sticking to the transfer paper, you can try rubbing it again until it is completed.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can erase rub-on transfers with an eraser.
  • Store transfers in cool, dry place. Heat and humidity will ruin them.
