How to Convert Airline Miles to Hotel Points
For frequent travelers, frequent-flier miles accumulate over time and can be used to save money for vacations. Airline miles can be redeemed for airline travel, or they can be converted to be used at hotels. Airlines promote partnerships with major hotel chains and car rental companies and are seeking ways to recognize their program members with special offers. Frequent-flier miles can be redeemed for hotel vouchers or hotel points. Maybe you've earned enough to make your dream vacation come true.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't have a membership at a hotel's program, sign up online to receive a membership number. Registration is free, and membership confirmation is often issued within one to three days. Some airline frequent-flier and hotel programs are affiliated with larger redemption partners such as Points.com, which provides flexibility in consolidating, converting and redeeming membership points. Check out the airline partners in your frequent-flier program for any hotel promotions (regional networks may offer local deals). Optimize your redemption/conversion by limiting the category of hotel (if that option is available). For example, maximize your 15,000 miles to get four days at a category three hotel instead of two days at a fancier category six hotel.
Check whether your frequent-flier program specifies minimum transaction points or fees. Plan sufficient time for the transaction to be completed by the airline and hotel. Expedited service can be requested for an additional fee; see your membership program for details. Check that your hotel membership is current before initiating the transaction. Errors in program membership numbers (such as changes due to program mergers) will result in delays, and your airline miles will be unavailable until the matter is resolved.
