How to Design a Ping Pong Table With Blueprints
Learn how to design a ping-pong table with blueprints and without spending a lot of money. Blueprints will expedite the building process, providing you with pictures and directions. The first step is to locate blueprints, and then build according to what you have learned so you can enjoy a ping-pong table at your next get together.

Find blueprints. While it's tough to find actual drawings and diagrams for ping-pong tables, the International Table Tennis Federation has laid out regulations that double as instructions and guidance for anyone making a ping-pong table. If you cannot find blueprints, draw your own. An "official" ping-pong table is 9 feet by 5 feet and exactly 2 feet 6 inches above the ground. With these specifications, sketch your drawings into phases you can easily follow, or use a computer program to generate instructions and images.

Buy your supplies. A sample list would include a 1-inch thick MDF board. But the table surface can consist of any material that a ball can bounce off of. Find the rest of your supplies at hardware and sporting goods stores.

Paint the MDF board green with two coats to ensure a brilliant finish. Allow it to dry overnight outdoors.

Create the lines with white electrical tape. Refer to your blueprints to see how the lines on a ping-pong table should look and where they should go. Measure the full length of the board on both sides of the table to find the middle. Then tape from each mark for your net line. Next, determine the middle width on both ends of the board. Tape this to divide each side into halves.

Attach your net using C clamps to fasten it firmly to the table. Reference your blueprints for net positioning and set up. Ping-pong table construction does not require any drilling or other power tool activities.

Set up your table on two sawhorses or a table that is the appropriate height. The blueprints will tell you how to properly position the table.
