1
Use Dead Sea bath salts or Dead Sea salt cream. Dead Sea salts have been shown to balance skin moisture and provide relief from itching and skin scaling.
-
2
Soak in a warm colloidal oatmeal bath, which can help relieve dry, itchy skin. Colloidal oatmeal is oats that have been ground into a find powder so that the oatmeal will not settle in the water.

3
Apply a cold compress to the area to help relieve itching. Resist the urge to scratch or pick at sores, which can spread lesions or cause infection.
-
4
Apply a cortisone cream. Over-the-counter hydrocortisone may not be strong enough to treat psoriasis, so talk to your doctor about a prescription for a stronger cream. A menthol-based ointment may also help.
-
5
Use a salicylic acid preparation to help soften and remove scales. Products containing coal tar can also reduce inflammation and slow the growth of skin cells.

6
Try over-the-counter treatments such as aloe vera, menthol-based ointments or jojoba.
