How to Make a Bicycle Rack
Most people remember the bikes they had as kids. Many of them came equipped with what is referred to as a kickstand, which allowed the bike to remain upright when it wasn't being used. However, many of today's bicycles don't have this feature, meaning that for anyone with a bike, a bike rake is necessary to ensure your bike doesn't have to lay on the ground or against a wall. You can build you own bike rack. This is a fairly simply project to complete for a few bucks and a little bit of work.

How to Make a Bicycle Rack
-
1
Cut two 24" pieces of PVC pipe. These two pieces will make the upright section of the bike rack that holds the front part of the wheel in place.
-
2
Saw eight pieces of PVC pipe to 1.5 foot lengths; saw three pieces into 3" lengths.
-
-
3
Sand all the PVC ends so that they are smooth and free from any burrs.
-
4
Apply PVC cleaner to all the pipe ends
-
5
Put PVC glue on one end of four of the1.5 foot pipes and insert the pipes into the elbows.
-
6
Glue elbows to one end of one of the 24" PVC pipe. Repeat on the other 24" pipe.
-
7
Glue the "T" connectors onto the other ends of the 1.5 foot pieces so that they are at a 90° angle to the elbows.
-
8
Glue the four remaining 1.5 foot pieces into the "T" connectors.
-
9
Apply glue to the two remaining "T" connectors and insert the four ends of the 1.5 foot pieces into them. The T's should be facing up.
-
10
Connect the two 24" pieces by gluing one 3" pipe section into the elbows. This should make an upside down "U" shaped piece.
-
11
Connect and glue the "T" connectors with the two remaining 3" PVC pieces.
-
12
Glue the legs of the "U" shaped piece into the "T" connectors.
