How to Fix the Application Error 17235
The "Application Error 17235" message will display on your screen when you are using a DVD backup program such as "InterVideo DVD Copy" and the program experiences a problem that causes it to close prematurely. The error message can be caused because you did not reboot your computer immediately after originally installing the program or because your computer's DVD drive is using an outdated software driver.

Open the "Start" menu on your desktop by clicking on the Windows icon located at the lower left corner of your screen. Click on the "Control Panel" button and wait for a new window to appear. Scroll through the Control Panel options and double click the icon labeled as "Programs and Features."

Click on the "Name" button underneath the "Organize" heading to alphabetically arrange the list of all the programs installed on your computer's hard drive. Locate the name of the program that is giving you the "Application Error 17235" message in the list of installed programs. Click on the program name, then click on the "Uninstall" button at the top of the window.

Wait for the program to finish uninstalling from your computer's hard drive, then close the Programs and Features window. Insert the installation disc for the program you deleted. Follow the instructions that will pop up on the screen to reinstall the program. Restart the computer as soon as the installation wizard prompts you to do so.

Attempt to use the program to see if the "Application Error 17235" message still occurs. Close the program and click on the "Start" menu and return to the Control Panel. Find the name of your DVD drive and right click on it. Click on "Update Driver" from the menu that will pop up. Wait for the newest version of the driver to finish installing, then restart your computer. Open the program that was giving you the error message and attempt to use it again.
