Things You'll Need:
- Wireless internet
-
Step 1
Figure 1First of all, stop your device from accessing the ATT MEdia Net. In fact, every new PDA/smart phone owner should do this if they did not purchase / canceled a data plan service, unless your phone has been unlocked or re-flashed. Because the mobile carrier usually pre-set the phone to connect to their paid service.
For ATT Tilt, tap the “3G” icon on the right top corner (Figure 1) – tap “Setting” (Figure 1) – you’ll be transferred to the setting page, then tap “Connection” icon (Figure 1) -
Step 2
Figure 2Tap “Advanced”, then “Select Network” (Figure 2). Now you can see two options here, the first one is “program that connects to internet automatically”. The preset option is “MEdia Net” (Figure 2).
-
Step 3
Figure 3Now change it to “My Work Network” or any other name that you defined for your wireless network connection (Figure 3). Tap “OK” to return to the home page of the phone.
Before connecting to wireless internet, now if you tap the Weather tab on the home page and select a city, Tilt will try to access internet to retrieve the up-to-date weather data. But since you’ve stopped it from connecting to MEdia Net and you haven’t turned on your WIFI, your phone gets no ways to update the data and should return a failure information (Figure 3) -
