In case you do not know, the kitchen is the dirtiest place in your home. The sink has bacteria and viruses waiting to make you sick so how does someone clean their home without using paper towels and spending a fortune? Well, a very smart lady, my mom, informed me of this trick and I would like to share it with you.

Think about your sponge and what you use it to clean- floors, toilets, counter-tops, plates, ect. Grab that nasty sponge and wet it thoroughly. Squeeze excess water out. I suggest you wear gloves. Replace those once a month as well.

  2. Step 2
Be clean and save the environment by using sponges!

Place sponge on small plate in microwave. You do not want the sponge touching the large microwave turning plate.

  3. Step 3
Replace sponges when they start losing their fibers which should be at least once every 2-3 weeks.

Replace sponges when they start losing their fibers which should be at least once every 2-3 weeks.

Microwave on high for 3 minutes and watch the germs get killed and your sponge renewed. If your sponge is still really wet, microwave until semi-dry. Tah-Dah! Your sponge is now disease-ridden free of microbes from everyday cleaning.

Tips & Warnings
  • 2-3 weeks replace sponge.
  • I microwave my sponges at the end of each day.
  • Do not microwave sponges with metal fibers!
