1
Cut a square hole in the empty milk carton, about 2/3 of the way down the carton. This will be the door for the bird seed feeder. Use a sharp knife and/or scissors to cut, but don't make the opening too large. Four inches in width and length should be sufficient.
-
2
Poke a hole on each side of the bird seed feeder door, about ½-inch below the door on either side. Use the knife or the point of the scissors to make the holes.

3
Decorate the bird seed feeder using wood chips for the roof, and moss and straw for the sides. Use wood glue to secure the decorations in place. You may also use leaves and other natural materials you find around your yard. This will help make the bird seed feeder look more natural in its environment, and more inviting to the birds.
-
4
Place thin sticks or twigs into the holes under the door and use glue to attach them securely, if necessary. These sticks provide a place for the birds to land, so make sure they're sticking out of the holes at least several inches in front of the bird seed feeder.

5
Poke a hole in the top of the milk carton and string a piece of twine through the hole. Form a loop and tie it tightly. This will form the hanger for your bird seed feeder.
-
6
Spoon bird seed into the bird seed feeder through the door. Use a mixture of different types of bird seed to attract the largest variety of birds. Hang the bird feeder outside from a sturdy branch, and watch for birds on a daily basis. Before you know it, you'll have lots of new backyard friends.
