Install a Ventilating fan easily
Install a Ventilating fan easily

Most homes are built with ventilating fans in different parts of the home. Ventilating fans will help to remove odors, harmful chemicals, water vapor, etc.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

Locate the area in the ceiling where you will like to install the ventilating fan. Consider the area, and then think about it for a few days to be sure this is the location that you will like, because you will be drilling a hole in the ceiling and the roof. Once you put the fan in the selected spot, you can not move it without correcting the damage done.

After selecting the area in the ceiling for the fan, drill a small hole, and feed a coat hanger wire through the hole. This is done so you will be able to locate the fan location when you are in the attic

Go into the attic and find the coat hanger wire, to establish the fan location. It should be installed against a framing board to provide adequate support.
Press the fan housing against the ceiling. Trace around the housing to mark the ceiling, cut the drywall using a saber saw.

Place the fan housing over the ceiling hole, and screw it to a framing member. Then chose the best path for the vent duct, attach it to the end of the fan housing with a screw clamp.

Next, go onto the roof and using a saber saw, cut a vent hole. When the hole is completely cut, pull the vent duct up and attach it to the vent hood. Seal all surrounding shingles with roof cement. Go back into the house and fill all inside holes around the fan housing with caulk.
