Enrolling in the school of your choice can be so exciting. If your prepared and have these steps taken care of during your interview you'll be more than ready to start on your way to a career in cosmetology. The first step is to fill out a FAFSA form on the web. The FAFSA is a tool used by schools to determine your eligibility for loans and grants made to help pay for your schooling. When you have finished filling out your fafsa you will receive a Sar Score. This score is a computed average that let's the school know how much aid you are eligible to receive and what percentage you are capable of paying. Print your score and bring this with you to the meeting. Next you want to contact the school of your choice and arrange a meeting with the financial aid or counselor. During this meeting he or she will spend time explaining how the school works and what will be expected of you. Most schools work on an hourly scale. For most cosmetology courses you must complete 1800 hours. most schools will ask for an upfront fee of 100 dollars to be sure you are serious and wish to attend. This fee does come off of your ending balance due to the school.

The school usually knows this just by the excitement you show when you arrive. If you arrive prepared and with everything you need to complete the application you are sure to be accepted. Cosmetology is an excellent career with many rewards and what school you choose will greatly benefit your experience. Good luck in your career!
