How to add a website icon link to your Windows desktop

Ever find just the right website with the information you need and that you know you'll come back to again and again? Like eHow.com, for instance? Here's how to easily place a shortcut link icon to your Windows desktop so you won't have to search through your favorites to find it when you need it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Windows PC with XP or Vista OS
  • A web browser
  1. Step 1
    Browse to eHow.com
    Browse to eHow.com

    Open your browser and browse to the website you want a desktop shortcut link to.

  2. Step 2
    File > Send > Shortcut to Desktop
    File > Send > Shortcut to Desktop

    For IE browsers: Click or hover over 'File' on your browser's menu, then on 'Send' on the dropdown, then choose 'Shortcut to Desktop' from the popover. A new icon shortcut link for the website you are viewing will be placed on your desktop.

  3. Step 3
    Firefox, click and drag button

    For Firefox/Mozilla browsers: Resize the browser window so you can see both the website and part of your desktop. Right-click and hold the site identification button to the left of the address bar and drag it to your desktop. A new icon shortcut link for the website you are viewing will appear on your desktop.
