Tired of plain and ordinary flip flops? Why not buy a pair of the cheap flip flops and decorate them yourself. If you take a pair of old jeans and a pair of cheap flip flops you can create your own unique flip flops! This is a perfect way for girls to show their personality with very little cost!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 pair of flip flops
  • 1 pair of old pants (recycle!!)
  • 1 pair of scissors
  1. Step 1

To create these funky flip flops you will need to begin by cutting your pants along the seams. Now you will need to cut strips one inch wide by four inches long. You will need several of these strips!

  2. Step 2

Once you have several strips cut you will need to begin tieing your strips to your flip flop strap.

  3. Step 3

To tie the strips start at the middle of your flip flop strap, where your toe divider is. Take a strip of material and hold it on both ends, the center should run under the flip flop strap. Now make a knot (I like to tie mine in a double knot so they do not come loose easily).

  4. Step 4

Continue to add strips one next to the other in the same way until you have covered the entire strap. Make sure you press the strips together to give a full effect.

  5. Step 5

Now you will need to cut the strips to the desired length. I usually leave about an inch and a half.

  6. Step 6

At this point you are done. You can give the shoes a frayed look by wetting the shoes and placing them in the dryer to 15 minutes. This will also allow the strips to fluff up a little bit!

Tips & Warnings
  • This also works great with bandana' s or old T-shirts.
  • You can be a little more creative by using multiple colors of material or material with different textures.
