There's a reason we're admonished to never wear black-soled shoes in the gym: They're likely to leave dark scuff marks on linoleum or vinyl floors. The good news is that if your flip-flops, black-soled shoes or even wheels from furniture have left black scuff marks on a linoleum floor, you can clean those scuffs off with nothing but a few supplies that you already have on hand.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small bowl
  • Baking soda
  • Rags
  • Old toothbrush or scrub brush
  • Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
  1. Step 1

Mix baking soda and water in a small bowl, until the baking soda reaches a thick, paste-like consistency.

  2. Step 2

Use a spoon to scoop the baking soda onto the scuffed areas of your linoleum floor.

  3. Step 3

Scrub the baking soda over the scuffs with a damp rag. If about 30 seconds of concentrated effort isn't showing any results, use an old toothbrush, or a larger scrub brush to work on the scuff a little bit at a time.

  4. Step 4

Wipe the baking soda away with a damp cloth or paper towel. The scuffs should be gone but, if there are any scuff marks left on your linoleum floor, use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to finish wiping them off.

Tips & Warnings
  • Other cleaning supplies that may help you clean scuffs from a linoleum floor include toothpaste and Goo Gone. If nothing else works, try rubbing at the scuff with a clean tennis ball. It should come right off.
