Creating the Keepsake Box
-
1
Measure the inside bottom and the inside top of the cigar box using a ruler.
-
2
Cut one piece of solid paper the exact size of the box's inside bottom and another the size of the box's inside top. Using a foam paint brush, brush a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the inside of the cigar box. Place the cut paper into the correct space and press gently around the edges to ensure adhesion.

3
Brush a thin layer of Mod Podge all over the outer sides and top of the cigar box. Make sure all areas on the outside of the box, including the edges, are covered with the adhesive.
-
4
Tear the patterned paper into small pieces and stick them to the outside of the cigar box in random places, overlapping and creating a mosaic-like design. Continue sticking paper pieces until the entire outside and top of the box are covered.
-
5
Allow the keepsake box to dry for two to three hours, then fill it with mementos.

Tips & Warnings
You can give different keepsake boxes differing finishes, depending on the type of Mod Podge used. Matte, gloss, satin, sparkle, shimmer and even glow-in-the-dark finishes are available.
Always protect table tops when crafting, as adhesives may damage surfaces.
