How Do I Get Credit Reports on Clients for a Business?

Obtaining credit reports on clients is an important part of a business to help assure clients are financially viable. Credit reports are public information and, as such, are easily accessible via the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Point your browser to annualcreditreport.com (see Resources). This site is endorsed by the federal government and provides free credit reports.

    • 2

Select the state of your client from the drop-down menu and click "REQUEST REPORT."

    • 3

Fill out all of the required fields, including the name and Social Security number of your client. When you are done, click the "CONTINUE" button located at the bottom-left hand corner of the screen.

    • 4

Select the credit reporting agency you would like to generate the report. This can be either Transunion, Experian or Equifax. Select multiple agencies if you would like.
