A light meter is used to determine the amount of light and proper exposure levels for photography. Cameras in the digital age are equipped with onboard light meters which may prove more confusing to the novice photographer. However, Fujifilm Finepix cameras have a very user-friendly light meter which uses recognizable symbols instead of numerical readings.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fujifilm Finepix F100 digital camera
  1. Step 1

Press the Menu button and scroll to the Shooting menu.

  2. Step 2

Select Photometry from the Shooting menu.

  3. Step 3

Select the "Multi" setting if you want the light meter to automatically recognize scenes and provide the best exposure level. The symbol for this setting is a set of brackets filled with a solid square.

  4. Step 4

Select the "Spot" setting to feature a central object in a photo. The symbol on your Finepix camera will appear as a set of brackets with a spot or dot in the middle. If your camera is set for "Spot," there will be a strong contrast between light and dark areas.

  5. Step 5

Set your light meter for "Average" when you're shooting landscapes or environments with general light quality. If your light meter has an empty set of brackets ([ ]) than your setting is on Average.
