How to Make Bird Seed Hearts
Bird watching is a fun activity for young and old alike. An easy project is to make bird seed hearts. These hearts are attractive and are sure to please the birds in your neighborhood. You can make them any time of year, but in the cold months birds are more likely to need a helping hand in finding food. You can make your heart any size you like, but keep in mind that the larger the heart the heavier it will be, so you will want to use stronger twine if you make a large heart.

Cut out an 8 inch heart from the cardboard with the utility knife. Poke a hole in the top and tie a one-foot length of twine in a loop through it.

2
Smear peanut butter over the cardboard heart. The peanut butter only needs to be approximately 1/8 inch thick, but make sure you cover the entire surface.

3
Fill the bowl with bird seed and press the heart into the seed, peanut butter side down. The seeds will adhere to the peanut butter.

Tips & Warnings
You can use the same method to make a variety of different shapes. Pre-cut the hearts if you're doing this project with children.
Use caution when using a utility knife. Make sure the heart is high enough off the ground so the birds will not be in danger from neighborhood cats.
