How to Plan a His & Hers Wedding Shower Without Alcohol

There are many reasons for throwing a his and hers wedding shower without alcohol, including religious beliefs, guests who are under the legal drinking age, or out of respect for someone recovering from alcoholism. A nonalcoholic wedding shower can be just as joyous and fun as a shower with a well-stocked bar, and you don't have to be concerned about guests driving home drunk or getting sick from consuming too much.

1. Find and book a venue that doesn't contain a bar or serve alcoholic beverages. This will help to keep temptation at bay during the shower. If you have the shower at a restaurant with a fully stocked bar, people may order an alcoholic drink. You can also plan the shower at a private residence.

2. Send out invitations specifying a nonalcoholic gathering. Print this information at the bottom of the invitation or include the word "nonalcoholic" in the headline of the invitation. For example, the invitation could read, "Amy & Andy's Nonalcoholic Wedding Shower" or something to that effect. This way you won't have to worry about people coming to the wedding shower expecting to find alcohol and being disappointed.

3. Hire a skilled and knowledgeable bartender who can mix nonalcoholic versions of popular cocktails. Make sure the bartender has all the drink ingredients he will need. Also make sure the bartender has access to a blender, lots of fruit, ice, different flavors of ice cream, garnishes, etc.

4. Serve nonalcoholic fruit cocktails like virgin margaritas, pina coladas and daiquiris. Also, have a few drinks that resemble champagne, wine and beer, like sparkling apple cider, root beer and nonalcoholic wine. This will give guests more drink choices than only serving juice, soda and water. Have finger food on hand for people to munch on. Small sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, chips and dip, mini-burgers and fries, fresh vegetables and fruit, and sweet popcorn are some good options.

5. Plan a few games to keep the shower light and fun. Karaoke is always a good choice and is an activity that can be enjoyed by all.
