How to Reset a Palm Treo

Resetting the Palm Treo is similar to restarting a desktop computer. If your device is acting up or freezing it is a practical solution that will not erase any of your data. Sometimes a reset is required after installing or uninstalling programs and games. In this tutorial you will successfully reset your Palm Treo. You will not lose any data by performing a soft reset.

• Palm Treo Smart phone

Performing a Soft Reset

1. Save your work and close all active programs and games.

2. End wireless connectivity by holding down the red "End" button for 5 seconds.

3. Take off the battery door cover.

4. Remove the battery from the Treo.

5. Press and hold down the red "End" button for five seconds to drain the memory.

6. Insert the battery back into the device and replace the battery door.

7. Wait for the Palm Powered logo screen to appear. The preferences screen will appear and prompt you to enter the time and date.

Tips & Warnings

• Although you will not lose any data, it is always a good idea to backup your information before tampering with your device.
• If you encounter data loss after a soft reset there is a serious hardware malfunction and your device must be serviced.
