1
Amend the return on TurboTax by signing into your account. Move your mouse to the "Federal" tab and select "Other."
-
2
Select "Amend Return" and follow the directions to navigate to each area that you need to change. For instance, if you need to add another W-2, you would navigate to the Income section and then add a W-2.

3
Enter the information that you need to change and TurboTax will ask you why you are changing this line. You must supply an answer for each change you make. If your "Earned Income" line changed because you added another W-2, just write that this line changed because you added more income.

4
Move to the state tax return after you have completed the federal questions and changes. This information will have changed with your federal information change. You must supply answers to the questions as to why an amount on a given line has changed. For instance, if you changed your federal itemized deductions, your state information would change as well. You would write that you added or subtracted from your federal itemized deductions and then give a reason for the change.
-
5
Attach a copy of your amended federal return to your state amended return. If you added a W-2 to your federal and state return, you must send the added W-2 along with your federal and state information.
