1
Hang track lighting in your living room to accent artwork or collectibles. Install the tracks 20 to 45 inches from the walls in 4-foot or 8-foot sections. Light fixtures are available in mini, small, medium and large. You also can hang pendants from track strips over a bar or from the side of a cathedral ceiling.
-
2
Curve your track lighting in the kitchen to encircle an island or to follow the cabinets' perimeter line. Surrounding an island allows you to focus your lighting fixtures in many areas. Direct the fixtures to provide lighting for your island, perimeter work surfaces and appliances with one track and six to eight fixtures. If you line the track around your cabinets' perimeter, focus some of the fixtures onto the countertops and others onto appliances.

Place track lighting as directional lighting in your home office. Spotlight bookshelves, artwork, maps or any other decorative or functional element. Combined with a desk lamp, your track lights should offer enough light to work comfortably.

Add track lighting to your bedroom to highlight pictures, walkways, furniture or a seating area. Depending on the room's scale, small- or medium-sized light fixtures in 4-foot lengths on either side of your bed or in front of a closet will add directional lighting to complement lamps or decorative lighting.
