A metal clip is a piece of material, usually metal, folded in half. Reliable money clips must be made of a metal that isn't subject to fatigue so that it can't be stretched out. Common metals include sterling silver, gold, silver and titanium, with titanium being the preferred choice for its strength and durability. Money clips can also use springs or hinges to hold money together mechanically. They are often monogrammed or inscribed and given as gifts. They are typically used by men who prefer a money clip's thinner profile as opposed to a traditional wallet.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Arrange your money. Traditionally, the largest bills are on the bottom, upside-down---meaning the faces on the bill are facing down. Your smallest bills should be on the top of the stack.

  2. Step 2

Fold your money in half so that your large bills are showing.

  3. Step 3

Slide your money into the money clip, folded end first. The clip must be able to securely hold the money together and in place. If you cannot easily slide the money into the clip, you will have to remove some of the bills until the folded money can slide easily into the clip. If the money isn't held securely, you'll have to add more bills until the clip can securely hold the money in place.

  4. Step 4

Provide room for any cards you want to hold in the clip as well. These cards could include your driver's license, bank cards and credit cards. Slide the cards into the middle of your money fold so that they are protected by the bills.

  5. Step 5

To pull money out of your clip, you can either take the entire stack of bills out and unfold them, or just pull out the needed amount from the fold. For instance, if you only need $1, the smallest bills will be in the middle of the fold and easy to pull out, because you put the smallest bills on top of the stack before inserting them into the clip.
