Ms Word is a popular document program. Some computers have this software already installed. However, most people will need to purchase Microsoft Office or Word to use the application. MS Word has several options including spell check, thesaurus and document properties. The properties allow you to make detailed notes for a specific document. These include title, subject and keywords. Once you incorporate this information, you can then view it later. This is important for business text or personal documents.

      Open a specific document in MS Word or a blank page.

      Click the "Office Button" in the top left corner. Scroll to "Prepare" and select the "Properties" option. A box entitled "Document Properties" will appear above your text.

      Insert the information in the specific boxes. This includes but is not limited to the author of the piece, title, status and any comments about the document.

      Click on the "Document Properties" title to obtain "Advanced Properties." This gives you specific information about your document file. In addition, you can add extra information boxes such as client, department and editor.

      Add a quick launch properties button. Click on the "Office" button. Select the "Word Options" tab. Click "Customize" and select the arrow under "Choose Commands." Click the "All Commands" link. Scroll to "Properties" and highlight it. Press the "Add" button and then "OK." A blue "i" button will appear at the top of MS Word.
