Step 1
Human brains are more powerful than most people may realize. Positive thinking is the beginning of staying in good spirits. When something goes wrong the worst thing you can do is sit and dwell on it. Yes ignoring your problems don't make them go away, but does sitting and stressing and self pity make them go away either? NO! Stressing about it doesn't help the situation one bit, all it does is harm you, physically, mentally and those close to you.

Step 2
Look at the cup half full and not half empty. When bad things happen don't just focus on the negative of the situation. Doing that will drive you crazy! Look at the good side to everything that you deem negative. Seeing the good out of every negative will also keep you in good spirits because you wont be looking at things in a negative way but in a positive way. Thinking positive is the main point here.

Step 3
Exercise! Doing exercise increases you endorphin levels, releases stress and helps you get into better shape, which also in turn helps you feel better. Doing exercise, keeping positive and not letting the small things get to you will keep you in good spirits, and give you better relationships with those ones you love.
