Keeping a Adjustble Roller on your trailer.
Keeping a Adjustble Roller on your trailer.

Installing a Keel Roller on your trailer will save the life of your boat, keeping it from getting damaged and scratched. Once you have this on your trailer the boat will be centered when removing it from the trailer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Adjustable Keel Roller and Bracket Assembly Kit
  • Socket set
  • bolts and nuts
  • Vise-grip or wrench
  1. Step 1

    Prop the keel.
Put your boat on the trailer and put a 2-by-4 block under the bow.
Wedge it firmly so some of the boat's weight is on the 2-by4. Try to wiggle it and there should be no movement.

  2. Step 2

Roller end leaning forward put on the trailer tongue. Put in the top bolt first, and then a lower one loosely. You should be able to slide the toungue up and down the trailer loosely. Adjust the roller until you find the right height.

  3. Step 3

When you have every thing in place tighten the bolts one at a time. Push the bracket firmly up against the bow. The keel roller is a stop instead of a support. The bow should now extend over the roller and the roller is firmly wedged in on the weight of the boat. Do not over tighten the bolts.
Remove the wood and shake a little. Should be in pretty snug.

Tips & Warnings
  • This will keep your bow centered.
  • If you do a lot of trailering this will keep your bow snug.
  • Keeps your bow from tipping, getting scratched or cracked.
