How to Polish Silver

You can use a silver polish but if you don't have that on hand....you might want to try this quick fix. This works as well as a commercial polish without the expense and the added bonus of being able to whip it up anytime.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Baking Soda
• Water
• Rag
• towel to dry

1. Mix a baking soda and water paste. You won't need more than a half coffee mug sized unless your doing a lot of silver or silverware. Aprox a couple of tablespoons of baking soda and add water gradually, stirring. You want a paste type substance.

2. Dampen your rag and dip it into the baking soda and water mixture. Polish your silver as normal, rubbing a bit on the tarnished spots.

3. Rinse the silver in warm water to get the paste off of it.

4. Dry with a soft towel.

5. Viola! You have beautiful silverware. This is easy to do especially if you don't tend to keep polish around and need a quick fix to get something polished. The pieces come out looking great.

on 10/17/2009 I just love baking soda! it's so cool! now I have another trick to use, if I had silver to polish that is! lol I have recomn'd you. Pay it forward to all. I tried to read a few of your other articles, but it didn't work. I hope "they" are not taking them off. "They" just took off 3 of my best! I always copy my articles and reprint if "they" do that! Usually takes them awhile to get around to taking them off again! LOL
